Well, after throwing a couple of spaghetti dinners, and a couple of years of trying to figure out what live act could possibly be the best thing for BRUCEFEST, we believe we have found it in Boston’s Barrence Whitfield and the Savages! We are pleased to announce Barrence Whitfield and his band as the head liner for this year’s Brucefest.
Spin magazine says "Whitfield is a performer so consumed with satisfying his audiences that he is crazed, frenetic and completely unhinged!" John Dougan, All Music Guide says "Whitfield is the owner of one incredible pair of lungs and limitless energy and enthusiasm for his music." We call him part throwback to the old R & B, and part wildman! And we couldn’t be more pleased to have Barrence and the Savages coming to Celoron on Saturday, June 2 ! This is one act ya don’t wanna miss!
We will be sticking tight to our usual day, which begins at 10:00 am for the Bike Run registration. The run will depart at 11:00 am - we’re still working on some details, but there will be some sort of breakfast available for the riders - we’ll post that info as we get that stuff nailed down!
The gates will open at noon, and live music, which will last all day, will begin at 1:00 pm. The Homewreckers, Yankee Zydeco Company, The Goodfellas, Infinity’s Bruce Peterson Project and more are slated to play as well. So, we have a great lineup including Bruce’s old band, the kids he’d be guiding along in the Infinity Performing Arts Program if he was still with us, and another local favorite, The Goodfellas! And just for the record, our new friends in The Yankee Zydeco Company are coming all the way from the Edinboro, PA area - even though they already have another show in Erie later in the evening - to help out our cause! (If you were at the spaghetti dinner back in March, you already know how much that dance floor was bouncing when YZC took the stage!) You can’t possibly go wrong for ten bucks! We’ll be sticking with dollar beers, and food will also be available for purchase. We try to keep things as cheap as we can, as it’s all of you who keep showing up for Brucefest that make it possible for us to keep this thing going!
We have donated just over $13,000 back to local causes with your donations, and this year we hope to make that number jump way up - you’ll see for yourself with Infinity’s Bruce Peterson Project that good things are being done with the money that has been raised!
So come on down to The Greek Club, 113 Jackson Avenue in Celoron on June 2.
And as Barrence Whitfield wails "I ain’t sayin’ I’m psychic, but I think you’re gonna like it!"
See you there!
